Crushing: A Sweet Script Font That Elevates Campaign Visuals

Choosing the Right Typeface for a Valentine’s Day Product Launch

I was finalizing visuals for a client’s seasonal product launch — a limited-edition line of artisanal chocolates for Valentine’s Day. The campaign needed a strong visual identity that felt romantic, approachable, and elegant. That’s when I tested Crushing, a calligraphy-style script font from the Script Amp category. It was a perfect fit for the theme — soft, expressive, and full of personality. I used it across social media graphics, email banners, and a promotional video thumbnail. Right away, the font added a human, handcrafted touch that elevated the brand’s digital presence.

Visual Style and Emotional Tone

Crushing is a romantic and sweet calligraphy typeface with characters that flow along the baseline like a gentle dance. Its casual elegance makes it ideal for campaigns that need a touch of warmth and intimacy without feeling overly formal. The font’s natural curves and organic rhythm give it a sense of movement, which works especially well in visual storytelling. It’s not just a decorative font — it carries emotional weight, helping brands communicate sincerity, affection, and charm.

From a design standpoint, it’s a premium script font that feels modern yet timeless. Whether used for a quote graphic or a product teaser, it brings a sense of grace and emotional clarity to the message. It’s PUA encoded, which made accessing stylistic alternates and ligatures seamless in design tools like Adobe Illustrator and Canva.

Practical Use in Digital Campaigns

I tested Crushing across several campaign assets:

It worked especially well in short headlines, callouts, and decorative titles. For example, in a “Love is in the Details” pin, the font’s soft curves complemented floral illustrations and pastel color schemes. In mobile previews, the font remained legible at a glance, which is crucial for fast-scrolling feeds.

Readability and Design Best Practices

While Crushing is highly expressive, it’s best suited for short bursts of text rather than long paragraphs. On dark backgrounds, I made sure to use a light stroke or shadow to ensure contrast. For small thumbnails or mobile banners, I limited the font size to avoid losing clarity in the finer strokes.

It’s not ideal for:

For brand consistency, I paired it with a clean sans serif like Montserrat or Lato for body copy and captions. This combination created a strong visual hierarchy — Crushing drew attention to headlines, while the sans serif kept the supporting text clear and readable.

Technical and Licensing Considerations

Before using the font in client work, I checked the included styles, ligatures, and alternates. It supports multiple languages and comes in various file formats, making it versatile for web and print use. The commercial font license allowed usage across digital ads, branded templates, and promotional assets — a key consideration for marketers and designers working on revenue-driven campaigns.

For web use, I made sure to embed it correctly or use fallback fonts for faster loading. When designing packaging or logo variations, I exported test samples to ensure the font’s character spacing and kerning translated well across mediums.
